Highway 61 - Revisited (again)

This is a painting for the 2025 Red Wing Plein Air event. I went back to Highway 61 near Frontenac close to a location I was at a few times last year. While painting, I had a lot of visitors from the authorities, Amtrak, general highway traffic and one artistically curious fawn.

Every day is a little different and this one had exceptional variety. I loved the changing shadows and bursts of light. By the time I packed up we had gone from the breaking up of storm clouds to full blue sky, so I am grateful I caught the drama in the morning. It was a great day and I have a painting I am really happy with!
